J’s phonics

J told me each day when he woke up he would read. He said when he does not know a word he would write it down on a piece of paper and use the “VCCV” method that I taught him to see if can decode it. He also found some of the words are “VCV” and “VCCCV” . He said “I am waiting for you to teach me how to read those words”.

I feel very proud of his positive attitude of learning. I am also very happy to have come across the wonderful teaching materials from Sarah’s First Grade Snippets . I did not know much about phonics before. So I studied at home after J goes to bed. Sarah’s materials are very useful. The instructions are easy to understand, so people like me who is not a teacher , can follow and use them to teach J AND MYSELF.
